Asthma, COPD & Pulmonary Conditions

There are many conditions that affect the lungs and the process of breathing air in and out. Here at Lung & Sleep Specialists of North Texas, we focus on chronic conditions that patients must learn to cope with every day.

One of the chronic conditions we treat most often is asthma. Asthma is a tight feeling in the chest that may make you feel short of breath. It produces a wheezing sound when you breathe. People with asthma can have “triggers” that cause symptoms to flare up.

Pulmonary Medicine: Conditions

chronic obstructive pulmonary disease treatment - Asthma treatment - COPD treatment - Pulmonary Conditions - Sleep and Lung Clinic Weatherford, TX

Asthma can be treated with a steroid inhaler, which is a type of medication that is sprayed into the mouth to help reduce inflammation in the airway. In addition, people with this condition can have allergic triggers or another subtype called eosinophilic asthma that requires special treatment. Biologic medications like Xolair®, Fasenra®, Nucala®, and Dupixent® injections are highly effective at treating these types of asthma.

COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, is another chronic pulmonary condition that is often manageable.
